High Altitude Desert Plantings

Hey everyone, Jeremy here again.  While you may notice our Subregions with their own forum sections (Southwest, Mountain, Pacific, Northwest), I find that biome breakdown seems to be more helpful in terms of in-the-ground cover crop management advice and information sharing.  So if you're in an area that gets <20" of rain annually (plus or minus), relatively dry, and over 2000'-2500' elevation, this thread is for you!

I'll get the ideas going:  I'm at 3500' in Sisters Oregon and have had amazing success with the Australian-origin woolly pod vetch.  It performs great, has multiple flowerings a year (post grazing/mowing), the native and imported pollinators love it, and the areas it flourishes has a significant (anecdotally) increase in biodiversity the following years.  It winter kills but whatever is left to go to seed brings it back without my help.

What are you having success with?
